IPSERA annual meeting 2017

From 9-12 April, the annual meeting of IPSERA (International Purchasing and Supply Education and Research Association) took place, with almost 200 participants from across the globe. The meeting took place in two venues, starting Sunday at Corvinus University in Budapest and continuing Monday-Wednesday in the Anna Grand Hotel in Balatonfured, located at the Balaton Lake in Hungary.

On Sunday, Fabian Nullmeier and Robert Suurmond presented part of their doctoral research in the Doctoral Workshop. Furthermore, Erik van Raaij (together with his former master student Clive Chen, and co-authors Jenny Bäckstrand and Robert Suurmond) presented an inventory of Purchasing Process Models collected to inspire PSM educators at the Educators Conference. See, among others, the pictures of the presentations below. In the evening, after some travelling, the conference continued with an informal opening reception at the Anna Grand Hotel in Balatonfured.

On Monday, both Fabian Nullmeier and Anna Nikulina each presented one of their papers at the conference. Fabian talked about the necessity of hybrid service contracts, using Necessary Condition Analysis. Moreover, Fabian received a bursary from IPSERA to attend the conference, congratulations Fabian! Anna talked about incentive-based payment schemes as used in the oil and gas industry, focusing on analyzing how performance-based contracts can effectively be used. Also on Monday, Erik van Raaij and Clive Chen presented the inventory of Purchasing Process Models at the main conference.

On Tuesday, we all had the chance to attend other sessions and get inspirations from other scholars in the field. For example, the Special Interest Group on Purchasing and Innovation was launched (chaired by Thomas Johnsen, Richard Calvi, and Marie-Ann Le Dain). Also on Tuesday, Jan Dul gave a Professional Development Workshop on Necessary Condition Analysis together with Zsofia Toth (see their own news update). The day was concluded with the Gala Dinner (and party) in the Ball Room of the Anna Grand Hotel (#IPSERAspirit #Table1).

Last but not least, Robert got to present his work on service triads and service innovation in the final session of the conference on Wednesday morning. We look back at a great conference with many inspirational sessions. Thanks to all the participants and presenters, and a special thanks to the local organizing committee chaired by Dirk-Jan Kamann.
