Standardisation Strategy for the Port of Rotterdam
Modern technology allows better interconnection of physical and information flows in international transport. Interconnection requires specifications for interfaces and therefore standards become more important. This is more than a technical issue, standards shape technologies and markets and thus also impact the competitive positions of harbours. Based on his expertise in the field of standardisation management and more specifically two recent projects about standardisation related to the Port of Rotterdam, Henk de Vries wil trigger a discussion on what can be done to make the Port of Rotterdam reap more benefits from standardisation.
