Smart Port Community Lunch Meeting, Tuesday 15 January at 12.00 hours in T03-42

During the first Smart Port Community lunch of 2013, on Tuesday 15 January at 12.00 hours in T03-42, Frank Smeele (port professor  for Erasmus school of Law) and Susan Niessen (Ph.D. candidate in transport law) will speak about the implications of the Rotterdam Rules 2008 for the Rotterdam Port Community. More specifically, the new innovative concept of the “Maritime Performing Party” in the Rotterdam Rules will be analyzed to determine which kinds of logistic service providers may fall within its scope and in due course might be subjected to significant changes in their legal position. Special attention will be given to the position of stevedoring companies, terminal and warehouse operators providing extended gate services.
