ERIM is very happy to welcome <link people veerle-van-laere _self>Veerle Van Laere in its team. Veerle started 1 December 2011 as the new ERIM Director of Grants Development. Together with Roel van den Berg, Veerle will help ERIM achieve one of its main strategic goals: broadening and increasing research funding, most notably from NWO, EU and ERC grants. Her office is in room T6-11.

Veerle Van Laere (45) is originally Belgian and moved to The Netherlands 20 years ago. She is a graduated interpreter English-Greek and obtained an MSc degree in Information Technology at Hull University (UK) in 1991.

She has been active in the field of research funding since 1992, both at the giving and receiving end of the funding table. She has worked as a project officer for the international research funding scheme EUREKA for 7 years and was a programme manager of Dreamstart, an initiative of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs resulting in the Technopartner and SKE funding initiative.

Later she established her own funding consultancy firm, assisting high tech SMEs with FP7 research proposals.

For the last two years Veerle has been the research funding coordinator of Tilburg Law School (Tilburg University) and assisted Law School researchers with their national and European funding applications.

She is very keen on helping ERIM to become increasingly successful in obtaining research funding. ERIM affiliates can contact her with any questions about funding schemes, criteria and procedures.
