In his dissertation ‘Optimal Transportation Plans and Portfolios for Synchromodal Container Networks', Bart van Riessen proposes an integrated approach for optimising synchromodal container transportation.

In her dissertation ‘Essays on Cooperatives: Emergence, Retained Earnings, and Market Shares’, ERIM’s Anna Petruchenya focuses on agricultural cooperatives, conceptualizing and evaluating their emergence patterns, delineating decision rights regarding their profit distribution and investigating the determinants of their market share in the European Union.

ERIM Fellow Professor Stefano Puntoni from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) is among the 34 top marketing academics selected for the Marketing Science Institute’s first edition of its inaugural MSI Scholars Program. Andrea Naghi, Assistant Professor at Erasmus School of Economics and ERIM Associate Member, is awarded a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship for her proposal ‘Competing Forecasts’. This prestigious EU Horizon2020 grant to the amount of 170,000 euro is meant to encourage the mobility of researchers across national borders within the European Union.

The greater the influence of non-family members on the strategy of a family business, the better the company does internationally, and the higher the revenue it generates abroad. Family businesses set themselves apart in the global arena by their long-term orientation and their focus on sustainable business relations. International success is contingent on such factors as a well-functioning labour market and a high level of interpersonal trust in the country in question.

Gabriele Jacobs, Endowed Professor of Organisational Behaviour and Culture at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) and ERIM Member will deliver her inaugural address Organisational Behaviour and Culture - Insights from and for Public Safety Management on Friday 9 March 2018. She will argue that factors such as understanding diversity, embracing complexity and building new alliances are key for the development of inclusive security solutions with multiple stakeholder groups and within diverse cultural contexts.

Professor Henk Volberda from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) and ERIM Fellow won the Flexibility Excellence Award 2017 from the Global Institute of Flexible Systems Management Society (GIFT). It was the first time the recognition was awarded. Prof. Volberda received the prize at the institute’s annual conference in New Delhi, India.
