In his dissertation ‘Indicators for risk detection in Dutch Education, Quality management, financial ratios and vertical integration’ ERIM’s Jos Verkroost examines the effectiveness of indicators which are used by the Education Inspectorate of the Ministry of Education to supervise school boards in the Netherlands.

In her dissertation ‘Sustainable Electric Vehicle Management using Coordinated Machine Learning’, ERIM’s Konstantina Valogianni investigates how intelligent algorithms can support electricity customers in their complex decisions within the electricity grid.

In her dissertation ‘Price Discovery, Liquidity Provision, and Low-Latency Trading’, ERIM’s Darya Yuferova discusses three empirical papers in the field of market microstructure. These papers investigate the impact of increased interconnectedness of the financial markets and the vast trading speed improvements on two important functions of financial markets: price discovery and liquidity provision.

In her dissertation ‘Money or Ethics. Multinational corporations and religious organisations operating in an era of corporate responsibility’, ERIM’s Katinka van Cranenburgh provides insight into the struggles of Multinational Organisations and Religious Organisations and builds on theory that can be used by business and investment managers that have an influence on society through the means of their activities.

In her dissertation ‘Governing for Stakeholders: How Organizations May Create or Destroy Value for their Stakeholders’, ERIM’s Pushpika Vishwanathan explores how organizations balance the interests of multiple stakeholders in corporate governance. The thesis consists of three studies, each focusing on a unique empirical context that involves the balancing of conflicting stakeholder interests.

In his dissertation ‘Essays on financing and performance: the role of firms, banks and boards, ERIM’s Philip Tadelle Fliers combines studies in economic history with contemporary research in corporate finance, in three studies.

In his dissertation ‘Textual Analysis of Intangible Information ’ ERIM’s Andy Moniz designs an automated approach to collect and quantify information on firms’ intangible assets by drawing upon techniques commonly adopted in the fields of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Information Retrieval.
