The influence of “the 12th man” exists, as Philip Hans Franses, Professor of Econometrics at Erasmus School of Economics and ERIM Fellow, proves. Franses has discovered that football players from Ajax and Feyenoord perform less well without their own supporters on the tribune during the "klassieker" (Ajax-Feyenoord rivalry). ‘Apparently, accompanying supporters has a motivating effect. Encouraging seems to make sense.’

Professor Stijn van Osselaer, former professor of marketing and former chair of the Department of Marketing Management at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) and Affiliate ERIM Member, received an ERIM Distinguished PhD Supervisor Award on the occasion of his last PhD defence as an RSM PhD promotor. This award recognises and honours the exceptional contribution to building the reputation of the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM) and its doctoral programme. In the case of Prof. Van Osselaer, the award recognises in particular his pivotal role as promotor and mentor of young scholars in the field of marketing.

Identifying Cultural Attitudes With Art Auction Prices’ by Patrick Verwijmeren, Professor of Corporate Finance at Erasmus School of Economics and ERIM Member, is the winner of the 2018 Best Paper Award in the investments category at the FMA Annual Meeting.
