In his dissertation ‘The Design, Planning and Execution of Sustainable Intermodal Port-hinterland Transport Networks’ ERIM’s Panagiotis Ypsilantis analyses the port-hinterland transportation process and develops models that support the design, planning and execution of port-hinterland transportation networks with high capacity modes such as barges and trains.
In his dissertation ‘We Are (All) The Champions: The Effect of Status in the Implementation of Innovations’ ERIM’s Balazs Szatmari explores the effects of status in the implementation of innovations in three empirical papers which investigate both the positive and negative impact of status –status of either the project leader, the project group, or the organization.
Take-off, a science program to encourage and support business and entrepreneurship, has granted three projects which will start shortly. One of the grants is for the projects of ERIM fellow Prof. dr. ir. Rommert Dekker.

The best research – and the researchers responsible for it – have been honoured at the annual ERIM Awards Ceremony, hosted by the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM). Academic prizes were awarded for achievements such as excellence in dissertations, and management impact.
The symposium takes place on 10 February 2017 and is organized by Flavius Frasincar, in conjunction with the PhD defense of Damir Vandic. It discusses some of the recent developments on Semantic Web and related language technologies and their application to decision support information systems. ERIM member Dr. Pamala Wiepking, assistant professor in the Department of Business-Society Management has won the prestigious Virginia Hodgkinson Research Book Prize. Together with Femida Handy, University of Pennsylvania, she was awarded with the prize in Washington DC on November 19 for their work on the book Palgrave Handbook of Global Philanthropy.
