Global Sourcing Conference

Speakers

Abstract

Our ERIM member, Dr. Ilan Oshri, is organizing a conference on Global Sourcing (with Leslie Willcocks and Antonio Cordella of the LSE, and Julia Kotlarsky of Warwick Business School). The conference takes place in March 2007 in France. Recent sourcing deals demonstrate the complexity involved in such projects. For example, in September 2005 TATA Consultancy Services (TCS) signed a five year 200 million euro deal to provide support and application enhancement services to ABN AMRO Bank. TCS would do this from centers in Mumbai, Sao Paulo and The Netherlands. Interestingly, the larger 1.2 billion euro deal involves five vendors, with which TCS would need to work, including remotely, with another Indian company -  Patni Computers, together with Accenture as preferred partners for application development. These complex projects call for a fresh view on sourcing relationships to understand how clients and vendors manage innovation and knowledge.
