The effect of routine communication within and across teams of knowledge workers: A field experiment in the kitchen industry
Abstract
In this talk I focus on how routine communication within and across teams of knowledge workers can increase their problem solving quality. The talk is based on an ongoing study for which we are conducting a randomized controlled trial at a kitchen manufacturer, that is, in the context of complex, mass customized products. Here—also owing to the pandemic—knowledge workers virtually discuss quality improvements with frontline colleagues of their team or with other teams in online quality circles. Given our pre-study findings, we expect different types of ideas and improvements from the different quality circle setups. I am looking forward to interactive discussions on this work in progress.
