How Ports Strengthen Global Supply Chains

Speaker

Abstract

As global supply chains have become more complex, seaports need not only be global hubs in logistics networks, but they must also act as central nodes in organisational and information networks. When all three of these networks are connected, they can create economic value, improve environmental performance, and enhance security in global trade, argues Rob Zuidwijk, endowed Professor of Ports in Global Networks at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). He will describe the networks of container transportation, logistics information systems, and sustainable supply chains to convey this message in his inaugural speech ‘Are we connected?’ on 13 November 2015.
