Modeling Executive Influences on Strategic Entrepreneurship

Speaker

Abstract

Strategic entrepreneurship is the new term that has arisen in the literature to represent the intersection of strategy and entrepreneurship. Strategic entrepreneurship refers to a broad array of entrepreneurial phenomena that involve large scale or otherwise strategically consequential pursuits for attaining competitive advantage. While research has identified many drivers of strategic entrepreneurship , it has also been recognized that an organization’s strategic leadership, particularly chief executives and their top management team, play a key role in shaping the strategic entrepreneurial pursuits of organizations. Within this context, I present two empirical studies that specifically address the following questions:  (1) Does a CEO’s personality impact the firm’s entrepreneurial posture; and (2) Does top management strategic decision process impact the firm’s entrepreneurial posture?
