NEVI becomes partner of Chair Purchasing & Supply Management in Health Care
Knowledge platform NEVI has signed an agreement with Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) to fund and support the chair Purchasing & Supply Management in Health Care of Prof. Erik van Raaij, Endowed Professor of Purchasing & Supply Management in Health Care at RSM and Erasmus School of Health Policy and Management. Professor Van Raaij’s research focuses on procurement and buyer-supplier relationships in the health care sector.
The health sector forms a large and growing part of GDP across the globe. National and local governments and insurers face the challenge of putting these increasing budgets at work to purchase high-quality health services and meet the demands of their populations. Professor Van Raaij studies the purchasing of care as well as the purchasing for care. He argues that better purchasing strategies and a better perspective over the value chain could improve the situation, but it would require purchasing to be viewed as more than just contracting the required volumes of health care services and goods.
“I feel honoured to be recognised in this way as a thought leader in purchasing and supply management,” says Prof. Erik van Raaij about the partnership. “With NEVI’s support, we can grow our activities in this area and broaden our impact on professional purchasing practice in the health care sector. An increased focus on value in health care improves patients’ lives while at the same time this helps to ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the health care system.”
