Tobias Brandt is Professor of Digital Innovation and the Public Sector at the University of Münster, Germany and visting faculty in the Business Information Management section of the Department of Technology and Operations Management at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. He previously served as assistant professor at the department and is also a *high-performing member* of the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM).

Tobias' research investigates the digital transformation of businesses and cities. He particularly focuses on smart power systems, innovative urban mobility solutions, and an improved understanding of the dynamics of urban tourism and crime. Tobias' work has received best paper awards at both the International Conference on Information Systems and the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences and he has published in leading journals at the interface of information and operations management, such as the Journal of Operations Management, the Journal of Management Information Systems, Transportation Science, Information & Management, and the European Journal of Information Systems. His research on urban mobility and spatial analytics has been supported by two Microsoft Azure for Research Awards and an IBM Faculty Award.

Tobias is teaching in the undergraduate, graduate and MBA programs of RSM. For his introductory course to Business Information Management, he received the SR Professor Award in 2019 and the RSM Innovative Teaching Award in 2020. Before joining RSM, Tobias received his PhD from the University of Freiburg, Germany, from which he also holds a diploma degree in economics. He has been a visiting scholar with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory on multiple occasions, as well as with the University of Texas at Austin. Tobias is also co-founder of the urban data science startup Geospin, in which he continues to be involved. During the course of his career, Tobias has been involved in data science projects with a variety of industry partners, including Siemens, Bosch, and ZF.
