Jan K. van Oord

Mr van Oord is a 4th generation family firm member of Van Oord, a leading international contractor founded in 1868 that specializes in dredging, marine engineering and offshore projects (oil, gas and wind).  Mr. Van Oord has been the Deputy Managing Director of MerweOord B.V. since 2002. MerweOord B.V. is the holding and investing company of the Van Oord family. It controls 78.5 % of Van Oord NV. Prior to his current position, Mr. van Oord worked outside of the family business for 24 years in the shipbuilding and shipping/transport business with various companies and in several capacities. Mr van Oord has also served as a member of a Supervisory or Advisory board of three different family businesses. He is a member of the Program Committee of FBNed (Dutch association of Family Businesses). Furthermore, he retains an active role on the Advisory Board for the Erasmus Centre for Family Business, the Van Oord family assembly/board, and various board positions in the non- profit sector.
