ECMC members at IAHPR 2024
This year’s International Academy of Health Preference Research (IAHPR) 15th annual meeting in Banff, Canada, has been nothing short of inspiring for the ECMC team. Over two days of exciting discussions, three of our members showcased cutting-edge research that pushes the boundaries of health preference research.
On day one, Nicholas Smeele presented his working paper on hypothetical biases in moral choice experiments, followed by Stella Marceta presenting the first results from her study on risk attribute labelling in patient preference research. Both presentations aligned perfectly with ECMC’s mission to advance the understanding of choice behaviours through discrete choice experiments.
Day two brought even more thought-provoking research. Luis Pilli presented a conceptual paper exploring how social influences like family and healthcare professionals impact decision-making. Stella Marceta took the stage to present on how risk graphics affect patient understanding, while Nicholas Smeele introduced an innovative Text-Infused Multinomial Logit model, integrating Large Language Models into choice models – a remarkable leap in health preference research.
We are proud of our team’s contributions and grateful to IAHPR and the University of Calgary for organizing such an enriching event. We look forward to continuing this journey in health preference research!
